About the Webinar
How do we move from research to real-world impact? This webinar will explore the journey from generating high-quality, relevant research and translating research outputs into innovations that address Africa’s socioeconomic needs. Through case studies and experiences from selected grantees implementing the RISA fund programme in varied contexts and sectors, we will unpack enabling factors for impactful research while addressing barriers that hinder uptake. Discussion will also examine how research uptake at the community level drives inclusive growth and long-term relevance.
Discussions will generate learning along the following:
- What does it take to build and sustain the enabling factors for ensuring the generation of high-quality relevant research in Africa
- What measures ensures research relevance and alignment with societal needs?
- What mechanisms, incentives, and partnerships enable effective research uptake and translation into impact?
- What strategies can ensure sustainability of research impact beyond funding support?
About RISA
The RISA Fund is a multi-country initiative funded by UK International Development from the UK government, designed to strengthen research and innovation systems across Africa. It brings together two complementary programmes under the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) Research and Evidence Division – Strengthening Research Institutions in Africa (SRIA) and African Technology and Innovation Partnerships (ATIP) – to harness synergies and drive systemic change. Managed by a consortium comprising Chemonics UK, Results for Development, and SOAS University of London, RISA collaborates with a wide range of implementing partners including universities, innovation hubs, government agencies, private sector actors, and international development firms. The programme operates in six countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Africa, supporting locally driven solutions and fostering cross-sectoral learning and impact.
